Bieber busted for going 101 on the 101 in his electric Karma

(July 7, 2012) STUDIO CITY, Calif. — It’s an only in L.A. kind of story — a young pop singer being chased by paparazzi  on the freeway is ratted out by a city councilman, who worked as a motor cop for 18 years.

The pop singer is 18-year-old Justin Bieber, who was spotted weaving in and out of traffic in his chrome Fisker Karma (a gift from Ellen DeGeneres) on the Ventura Freeway in Studio City, about 10 a.m. yesterday.

Among a dozen or so motorists who reported the speeder to the California Highway Patrol was Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine.

The CHP cited Bieber for exceeding 80 miles per hour in his Fisker Karma although Zine thought the Karma was going in excess of 100 mph.

“It appeared he was being chased (by paparazzi) when officers stopped him,” noted a CHP officer.

Bieber called 911 to complain about the paparazzi that were following him after he was cited, according to other media.

There was no mention by Bieber, Zine, the CHP or media that the Karma was an electric--powered car produced by Fisker.
