All-Muscle Car Invitational set for May in Alabama

(November 6, 2012) ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. — renowned collector Tim Wellborn will invite some of the South’s best muscle cars to the inaugural All-Muscle Car Invitational in May at the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum here.

Originally scheduled for this past October, the All-Muscle Car Invitational will take place the weekend of May 9-11. For more information, visit WellbornMuscleCarMuseum.com.

Known for specializing in 1971 Dodge Chargers, Wellborn held a 40th anniversary celebration for his favorite car last year at his Alexander City-based museum, housed in a building that once served as a Buick and Chevrolet dealership. Based on the success of that invitation-only event, which has been described as the largest gathering of 1971 Hemi Chargers in one place, Wellborn decided to follow it up with an event for all makes and models of muscle car.

Limited to 150 vehicles, primarily limited-edition, high-performance models from 1968 to 1971, the Invitational will include a tour, seminar on survivor-class cars, cookout and charity dinner along with the muscle car show and museum tours.

The Wellborn Museum is dedicated to the muscle car era, a defining period in American history, an indelibly etched component of an entire generation. It remains a significant cultural footprint of rebellion, rock-n-roll and fast cars with enormous engines designed to propel thousands of pounds of beautifully handcrafted steel at breakneck speeds.

The Wellborn Muscle car Museum is devoted to the great American automobiles of the 1960's and 1970's, showcasing classics such as the Charger, the Roadrunner, and the Superbee, as well as the nation's largest Dodge car collection.
