(February 28, 2017) SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Jeep, a brand that builds nothing but more than capable SUVs, is absolutely booming. Overall sales are up for the seventh year in a row, including three straight years of one million vehicles sold, with a record breaking 1.4 million in 2016.

(February 28, 2017) I suppose Lexus’ mega-sized luxury SUV could be better. It could, for example, be offered in a hybrid version, have third-row seats that fold out of the way, be offered with  a $0 down $399 per month lease including full-coverage automobile insurance, or come standard with an audio system that’s programmed to block Miley Cyrus and Iggy Azalea songs.

(February 10, 2017) When shopping for a new car, the Mitsubishi brand is one that seldom bubbles to the top of consumers’ consideration set. That isn’t a surprise, since the Japanese automaker has little relevancy compared with stalwarts like Toyota, Honda, Nissan and others.

(February 8, 2017) When it comes to pioneering vehicles that get exceptional fuel economy, Toyota is the world’s leader, with more than 25 years of alternative fuel vehicles under its belt. Product offerings in
clude the gas-electric hybrid, plug-in hybrid and even a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle in a few select markets. Toyota dominates the hybrid market with 13 models accounting for a 70 percent market share. Unlike many auto manufacturers, Toyota does not offer a pure all-electric vehicle, instead favoring a plug-in hybrid.

2017 Kia Forte — Expect to be impressed

(February 1, 2017) When it comes to shopping for compact sedans, most buyers immediately think about small-car stalwarts like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, with good reason. They have an excellent reputation for quality construction, reliability, and bang for the buck – and those manufacturers spend a lot of money on advertising.

But after stepping up their game following best-ever sales in 2016, Kia is poised for even more success with its refreshed family of Forte offerings for 2017.

(January 28, 2017) Gas prices in most parts of the country are low, hovering around $2 per gallon. Yet, fuel efficiency remains extremely important to most car buyers, according to the folks at AAA, who have researched their members.

And while it’s true that relatively cheap gasoline has buoyed the comeback of large utility vehicles, it has done nothing to discourage automakers from readying and introducing a plethora of new electric and hybrid vehicles that are hitting the road.

A hybrid variant called the ES 300h is also available

2017 Volkswagen CC — A decent value

By Jim Prueter
MotorwayAmerica

(January 24, 2017) Volkswagen first introduced the Passat CC for the 2009 model year. Visually, the 2017 CC tested here is virtually identical to the original. There have been changes over the years, updates, refreshes. VW dropped the name “Passat,” so it’s now simply known as the Volkswagen CC.

2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid — The perfect car for most people

By Jim Prueter
MotorwayAmerica

(January 16, 2017) Ford has made some key changes to the Fusion for its 2017 mid-cycle refresh, upping its game in the mid-sized hybrid sedan segment. While Ford decided not to make major changes to the overall looks of the Fusion, there is an all-new front end including new LED headlamps with LED accent strips. The grille is essentially the same shape, albeit smaller, with new options and fog lamps on the lower valance. The look is definitely sleeker and more aggressive.
