Lincoln Zephyr makes its case with younger audience

When Lincoln introduced its entry-level luxury Zephyr sedan at the 2005 North American International Auto Show, officials said they were aiming it at customers as young as 35, about half the age of the typical Town Car buyer.

Listen up, Lincoln executives, because we have some news for you; astounding news in fact: First there was the girl in the McDonald’s drive-through, perhaps 19 years old. “What is that you’re driving,” she asked as she cranked herself out the window.

Lincoln MKX – just what the doctor ordered – for now

The all-new MKX crossover sport utility is the right vehicle at the right time for Lincoln. And Lincoln needs an infusion of right vehicles.

As predicted the MKX and the new MKZ sedan will have respectable sales in 2007 giving Lincoln a significant increase in year-over-year numbers. In fact, YTD through July Lincoln is up a significant 12.5-percent in a down market.

Was it a bold prediction? You won't think so once you’ve driven the MKX or the MKZ.

Lincoln found unexpected success last year with the entry-level mid-sized Zephyr sedan.
It accounted for 33,114 sales in 2006, its first full year in showrooms, representing about 40 percent of Lincoln's car volume.

So, did officials break out the champagne to toast these encouraging statistics? No, they instead changed the name of the car to MKZ.

Lincoln MKT — A winner with conditional love

Last week I drove to Chicago to attend the Midwest Automotive Media Association’s Fall Rally and I was able to put a lot of miles on the 2010 Lincoln MKT. I can’t think of driving a better-riding, luxury-laden and quiet vehicle for over five hours and putting on almost 350 miles than this all-new addition to the Lincoln stable.
