Hyundai commits $18 billion by 2030 in shift to EVs



(April 11, 2023) SEOUL — Hyundai Motor Group has committed to a spend of around 24 trillion won ($18.2 billion) by 2030 as it seeks to increase production of electric vehicles. The group, which also set itself a goal of becoming one of the world’s top three EV makers, plans to boost its annual output of electric cars in Korea to 1.51 million units by end of this decade, or about 40 percent of estimated global EV production of 3.64 million, according to a statement reported by Bloomberg News.

$56 million in total sales achieved at Mecum Glendale 2023



(April  7, 2023) WALWORTH, Wis. — Mecum’s Glendale 2023 classic and collector car auction, held March 28-April 1 in Glendale, Ariz., reached $56 million in total overall sales as 1,266 lots hammered sold. With a total 1,667 lots offered throughout the five-day auction, a sell-through rate of 76% was achieved, and individual sales were led by a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing that brought $1.815 million.

Third-generation Ford LTD



This third-generation Ford LTD (1979-1982) was found languishing behind a repair shop in eastern North Carolina. The third-generation was downsized from the previous iteration losing about 15 inches of body length and seven inches of wheelbase. Available was a 5.0-liter and 5.8-liter V-8. Ford built 356,535 LTDs in coupe, sedan and wagon variants in 1979. Sales tumbled to 141,562 in 1980.
