Volkswagen develops pedestrian monitoring technology

(July 29, 2019) With millions of drivers and pedestrians sharing the road, it’s more important than ever to help them do so safely. That’s why Volkswagen developed its Pedestrian Monitoring technology as part of its Front Assist system to help drivers stay aware of other road users.

The applied technology that makes Pedestrian Monitoring possible is a small radar, a narrow square a few inches on each side that discreetly fits behind the Volkswagen emblem on the front of the vehicle.

Audi in Europe battles urban jungle with the new A1 Citycarver

(July 29, 2019) INGOLSTADT, Germany — Prospective drivers of the already innately city-friendly Audi A1 will soon have the option to make their car look even more urban-ready by choosing a new citycarver specification that takes a tougher stance. New citycarver versions of the A1 will be available to order in the UK in conjunction with 30 TFSI and 35 TFSI gas engines from September, and will begin arriving with customers in the autumn.

Spin announces next edition scooter model, brand refresh

Chevrolet claims 33 mpg for Silverado's 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine

(July 26, 2019) DETROIT — The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the available, all-new 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine delivers an EPA-estimated 33 mpg highway and 23 city in rear-wheel-drive models. EPA-estimated fuel economy for four-wheel drive models is 29 mpg highway/23 city.

This is the highest EPA-certified fuel economy ratings ever given to a full-size pickup. Based on competitor's diesel engines, Silverado will likely hold the fuel economy title for the foreseeable future.

First year of the Imperial



To better compete with luxury brands Cadillac and Lincoln, Chrysler made the Imperial a stand-alone brand in 1955. The Imperial's wheelbase was stretched four inches over the big Chryslers and all models came with a 5.4-liter FirePower V-8 engine making 250 horsepower mated to a two-speed PowerFlite automatic transmission. An option was air conditioning for $535. This 1955 model was found in a auto graveyard near Denton, Texas.

New Corvette will be displayed at Zora Arkus-Duntov event at Petersen

(July 25, 2019) LOS ANGELES — The Petersen Automotive Museum will host two days of special events celebrating the life and accomplishments of former Chevrolet chief engineer, race car driver and “Father of the Corvette” Zora Arkus-Duntov. The two-day celebration will feature several high-profile events including a display of the all-new 2020 Corvette Stingray, a VIP reception, exclusive Corvette rally event, Corvette car show and a special panel discussion on the history and future of the Chevrolet Corvette.

Toyota to reduce emissions from North American operations up to 40%

(July 25, 2019) PLANO, Texas — Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) is committing to aggressively reduce its carbon output in the United States by entering into Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs). It will use them to reduce emissions from its North American operations by up to 40 percent over the next three years.

The move represents another major step towards Toyota’s Environmental Challenge 2050 goal of cutting global emissions from plant operations to zero globally by the year 2050.
