Muscle cars, Corvettes and more at Mecum's Chicago auction

(October 1, 2015) CHICAGO — The return of the Mecum Chicago auction Oct. 8-10 to the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center will feature an estimated 1,000 collector cars headlined by American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, hot rods, Resto Mods and more.

The auction is open to buyers, sellers and spectators. Bidder registration is $100 and includes admission for the bidder and one guest for all three auction days; registration can be completed in advance at Mecum.com or on-site at the auction.

Fiat Chrysler reports sales up 14 percent over September 2014

(October 1, 2015) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. —  Fiat Chrysler Automobiles today reported U.S. sales of 193,019 units last month, a 14 percent increase compared with sales in September 2014 (169,890 units), and the company’s best September sales since 2000.
 
The Dodge, Jeep, Ram Truck and Fiat brands each posted year-over-year sales gains in September. The Jeep brand’s 40 percent increase was the largest sales gain of any FCA US brand during the month. The company extended its streak of year-over-year sales gains to 66-consecutive months.

Ford issues five safety recalls in North America

(October 1, 2015) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford has issued five safety recalls and one safety compliance recall in North America. Ford says a small number of accidents are attributed to these conditions, but no injuries.

• Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 340,000 1998-2003 Ford Windstar vehicles for a potential issue with a previous safety recall repair. There is a risk that the combined effects of corrosion and stress can lead to cracks in the axle that — if undetected — can grow and result in a complete fracture.

BMW premieres new inline 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine in M version of X4

(October 1, 2015) With the introduction today of the new BMW X4 M40i, the successful BMW X4 has gained a new top model. BMW says that in the Sports Activity Coupe segment, the BMW X4 M40i will set new standards with enhanced driving dynamics and best-in-segment acceleration. It  will be available at dealers starting in February.
