Bumper cars get new life

(April 29, 2010) Remember the bumper cars at carnivals, circuses, fairs, amusement parks?  Now we find street legal vintage bumper cars, transformed by Tom Wright in the San Diego area.  He figured the leftovers of the Long Beach Pike amusement park needed a more dignified end than the trash heap.
They were originally powered by Harley engines, but since have been replaced with Honda or Kawasaki engines.

A couple have been theoretically measured with a top speed of 160 mph, terrifyingly fast in machines with such a short wheelbase.
