Mustang best-selling sports car in 2020, outsells Camaro two to one

And for the sixth straight year the Mustang has outsold its long-time rival, the Chevrolet Camaro. Camaro recorded just 29,775 sales for the year.

BMW retains luxury sales crown in 2020, Lexus moves up to second place



(January 9, 2021) BMW defended its sales crown as the bestselling luxury car brand in the U.S. for the second year in a row, while demand for hybrids and crossovers propelled Lexus to inch ahead of Mercedes-Benz.U.S. luxury sales fell 11 percent in 2020, compared with a 14 percent slide for the overall industry. Luxury brands delivered 2,030,912 vehicles, accounting for a record 13.9 percent of total U.S. light-vehicle sales.

Honda leads full-line automakers in fuel efficiency, EPA reports



(January 8, 2021) Continuing a more than 40-year history of fuel-efficiency leadership, Honda ranks as the most fuel-efficient full-line automaker in America in a new report from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released on Wednesday. Honda has the highest fleet average fuel economy and lowest CO2 emissions of any full-line automaker for the 2019 model year (MY2019), the latest year for which full data is available, forming the basis of the report.

Volvo to triple electric production capacity after strong 2021 electrified sales



(January 8, 2021) Volvo Cars is tripling electric car manufacturing capacity at its plant in Ghent, Belgium, as it prepares to meet fast growing demand for its Recharge line-up of chargeable cars. The capacity increase comes as Volvo Cars also reports its full-year sales results for 2020, which showed a strong growth in demand for the company’s Recharge models. The share of Recharge cars as a percentage of total sales more than doubled in 2020, compared to 2019.
