Ford, Toyota halt production in South Africa because of worker strike

(July 15, 2014) Toyota and Ford have stopped production at South African plants as a two-week strike in the manufacturing industry stems the supply of components.

Toyota, the biggest carmaker by exports in Africa’s second- biggest economy, has halted production of the Corolla, Hilux and Fortuner models at its Durban plant. The shutdown is due to the ongoing strike in the metals industry, cutting supply of car components for the models, Toyota said.

Datsun on-Do sedan production begins in Russia

Production of new Acura TLX begins today

New mid-sized Volkswagen SUV to be produced in Chattanooga

First-generation Volvo XC90 ends production; new model due in January

Classic car owners receive historic pricing at vintage-themed gas

(July 12, 2014) TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — To celebrate National Collector Car Appreciation Day on July 11, Hagerty Classic Car Magazine transformed a gas station on Michigan's famous Woodward Avenue into a full service station from the past, complete with classic gas prices. Hagerty brought back the full-service station experience from America's golden automotive era, serving over 200 classic cars more than 1,400 gallons of gas.
