Nissan shows increase in production and sales outside of Japan

(November 26, 2010) YOKOHAMA Japan — Nissan today announced its production and sales increased worldwide in October.

Nissan reported that its global production in October increased 11.6% year-on-year to 363,227 units, marking an all-time record for October.

While production in Japan decreased 12% to 87,215 units due to the termination of the government subsidy program for environmentally friendly vehicles, production outside of Japan increased 21.9% to 276,012 units, marking an all-time record for a single month.

In the U.S., production increased 1.4% year-on-year to 47,280 units, due to increased demand for SUVs and trucks.

Global sales also increased in October, up 11.4% year-on-year to 319,330 units, marking an all-time record for the month.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 33,626 units in Japan, down 24.1% year-on-year.

Sales outside of Japan increased 17.9% year-on-year to 285,704 units, marking an all-time record for October.

Sales in the U.S. increased 16.1% year-on-year to 69,773 units, due to increased demand for Altima, Rogue and Frontier.

In Europe, sales increased 10.6% year-on-year to 49,366 units, due to increased demand for the new Juke and demand recovery in Russia.

In China, sales saw an increase of 16.6% year-on-year to 83,681 units, due to high demand for the new March, Teana and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for October.

Sales in other regions increased 31.7% year-on-year to 59,197 units, due to increased demand in Thailand and India, where the new March/Micra was launched.
