Nissan GT-R — 3 seconds 0-to-62

(December 6, 2010) YOKOHAMA, Japan — Nissan has announced the 0-100km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time for the 2011 Nissan GT-R supercar.

The acceleration time was measured during a media test ride event held at the Sendai Hi-land Race Way on Nov. 12 and Nov. 13. On both days, the GT-R clocked in with a time of 3.0 seconds.

The $85,000 supercar sports a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-6 making 485 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque. Edmunds.com has measured the newest GT-R in 3.6 seconds from 0 to 60. Road and Track magazine measured a 2010 model (with the same horsepower rating) in 3.3 seconds. Both times are significantly slower that Nissan's just-announded official time.

But, whatever time you choose as most accurate — the GT-R remains one of the fastest production cars in the world.
