New British company to reveal 620-horsepower SUV

(September 10, 2011) LONDON — A new British car company, Eterniti Motors, has released full images of the prototype of its first model, which will be shown at next week’s Frankfurt International Motor Show.

The Hemera, called the world’s first Super-SUV, will bring new levels of luxury and performance to the SUV segment when production starts in 2012. Hand-built in London, it will feature a limousine-like rear cabin, including twin electric reclining seats, iPads and a drinks chiller, giving customers the option of being chauffeured as well as driving.

However, its relatively compact dimensions, 4x4 ruggedness and dynamic performance mean that it is more practical than a limousine and offers considerable driver appeal, with over 620 horsepower on tap and a top speed in excess of 180 mph.

Eterniti said its product "is based on the latest generation of the best large SUV platform available, which will undergo a chassis-up rebuild, with a new, repackaged interior, carbon-composite body panels and additional performance."

The company plans to set up a London showroom, with attached assembly and service center where cars will be "hand-built on site by British craftsmen and technicians."

"Further showrooms in key international cities (will) follow from 2012," Eterniti said.

Last month, Britain's Autocar said the Hemera will be a rival to the upcoming Aston Martin Lagonda and as-yet-unnamed Bentley SUV, and will be priced from around $250,000.
