Kia reveals design direction of next Sportage with three teaser drawings

(August 17, 2015) Kia Motors will reveal its all-new Kia Sportage for the first time globally on Sept. 15 at the 2015 Frankfurt International Motor Show. Kia released three drawings today that suggest the design language that will be used on the new compact sport utility crossover.

Kia says that "entering its fourth-generation, the all-new Sportage features a bold, progressive design, which exudes power and agility from every angle. The dynamic compact SUV styling creates visual harmony out of the tension between bold, precise feature lines and dramatically-sculptured bodywork."

The design sketches certainly support that statement, but the real product will likely have less dramatic styling.

Kia says that inside, "the all-new Sportage marries simple, modern style with rich material quality for Kia's most refined, highest-quality cabin to date.

"With the design of the new model led by the brand's European design center — located in Frankfurt — the all-new Sportage represents the future face of Kia."

The Sportage should be offered with a similar engine lineup in the U.S. as the just-released all-new Hyundai Tucson, including a 164 horsepower, 2.0-liter and a 175 horsepower 1.6-liter turbo four cylinder engines.
