(June 3, 2015) IRVINE, Calif. — Kia Motors America has announced all-time best monthly sales in the U.S. of 62,433 vehicles in May, marking the second time Kia has surpassed 60,000 units in a single month. The historic May was led by strong performances from the Optima midsize sedan and Soul urban passenger vehicle, as well as increased demand for the Sorento and Sportage crossovers.

As part of the “Summer’s On Us” sales event, which began in May, sales of the Sedona minivan reached new heights since being completely redesigned for the 2015 model year, and the family of Forte compacts recorded its best-ever monthly sales total.

“Kia is never afraid to challenge conventional thinking, and the latest example is our launch of the ‘Summer’s On Us’ sales event in May rather than a traditional Memorial Day promotion, and the record-setting results show it clearly resonated with consumers,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer at Kia North America.
