(September 15, 2010) TORRANCE, Calif. —  Honda will recall 3,336 2010 model year Accord Crosstour vehicles in the U.S. to inspect and potentially replace the front passenger airbag.

Recent testing revealed that certain front passenger airbag modules installed in a limited number of 2010 Accord Crosstours do not meet one aspect of a U.S. federal regulation that requires airbag deployment to be tested using an unbelted six year-old child-sized test dummy in the front seating area. No incidents or injuries have been reported related to this issue. (In many states, six-year-old children are not allowed to ride in a vehicle's front seat, and Honda specifically recommends that children age 12 and under ride properly restrained in a vehicle's back seat.)

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage all owners of affected vehicles to take their Accord Crosstour to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda so their front passenger airbag can be inspected and, if necessary, replaced. Notification to customers will begin on Sept. 22.

In addition to contacting customers by mail, after Sept. 22, owners of these vehicles can determine if their vehicle requires inspection by going on-line or calling Honda. Honda owners can go to www.recalls.honda.com or call (800) 999-1009, and select option 4.
