Ford lowers price, ups gas mileage for 2011 Edge

(August 19, 2010) Ford has announced that it is cutting the price of its popular Ford Edge by $200 for the 2011 model year. The 2011 Edge will start at $27,995 including destination charge.

At the same time, Ford said the new Edge 3.5-liter V-6 gets better mileage than the 2010 version. It cited 19 mpg city and 27 mpg highway compared to EPA ratings of 18 and 25 for the 2010 model.

The front grille of the 2011 Edge is restyled and Ford put new rocker panels on the side for better aerodynamics. The 2011 Edge will offer MyFord Touch interior technology and three options for engines: a 3.5-liter V-6; a 3.7-liter V-6; and, next year, the 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged direct-inject engine.

Ford is planning a television and digital ad campaign to launch the model starting in late August and early September.
