Ford has best July since 1979 in Canada

(August 3, 2011) OAKVILLE, Ont. — Ford Motor Company of Canada saw overall sales increase 1 per cent compared to the same period last year marking the best July since 1979. Strong performances from Fiesta, Fusion and Taurus helped car sales increase 10 per cent in July.

Ford continues to be the best-selling automaker year-to-date with 167,721 units sold in Canada.
 
"We have been seeing consumers migrate from trucks to cars throughout the year due to several factors including higher fuel prices," said Mondragon. "Ford has been able to take advantage of this shift in buying behavior by offering fuel-efficient cars with award-winning technologies, like EcoBoost engines."
 
In fact, consumers have been looking to Ford for their small car needs. Car sales continue to increase month-to-month compared to the same period last year. Moreover, July marks the 14th month of consecutive car sales increases at Ford of Canada with year-to-date car sales up 23 per cent.
 
In addition, crossovers and sport utility vehicles have seen a combined year-to-date increase of 6 per cent led by the award winning Ford Edge, along with Explorer, Expedition, Lincoln MKX and Navigator.
