BMW to show 2013 X1 crossover in N.Y. signaling its availability in the U.S.

(March 26, 2012) BMW is promising that its small X1 crossover will finally go on sale in the U.S. this summer. BMW debuted the smaller SUV in Europe in summer 2009 suggesting it would also export the car to the U.S. But the X1 never made it as demand for the car in European markets took up all of its production.

To put an explanation point on BMW's current promise, it is bringing a refreshed version to the New York Auto Show in a couple  of weeks.

2012 BMW X1 currently on sale in Europe

The X1 gets minor revisions for the 2013 model yea. As the X1 has only been in production for a few years, it is not due for a major update, and already takes advantage of many newer BMW technologies.

BMW will only make one engine available in the U.S., its 2-liter four-cylinder with direct injection and a twin-scroll turbocharger.
