(August 21, 2015) FLAT ROCK, Mich. — One of the most iconic performance Mustang nameplates of all time the all-new Shelby GT350R roared off the line Thursday at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant. The new GT350R Mustang is the most athletic Mustang ever, designed to tackle the world’s most challenging roads and race tracks while creating an exhilarating experience for the driver.

“This is a special day for all Mustang enthusiasts,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company.  “We have taken the GT350 formula to the next level of innovation, style and performance.  Today the legend continues.”

The GT350R is outfitted with a 5.2-liter V-8 making 526 horsepower and 429 pound feet of torque. “A new Mustang as exceptional as the Shelby GT350 deserves an equally extraordinary engine,” said Dave Pericak, director, Ford Performance. “The all-new naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 perfectly fits the balanced dynamics of the Shelby GT350, and we believe this new engine will become a performance legend.”

The new Shelby will go on sale later this year.
