World Series cities — It's trucks in Dallas, cars in St. Louis

(October 21, 2011) SANTA MONICA, Calif. — The St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers are playing in the 2011 World Series in a matchup that pits two similar-style power-hitting ball clubs against one another. But their similarities on the field don't carry off the field as TrueCar.com identified distinct differences in car buying preferences between the two cities — St. Louis and Dallas.

TrueCar.com recently completed an extensive study of the differences in automotive buying habits of the two cities and discovered that St. Louis prefers cars over trucks and SUV's, as six of the top 10 best sellers were cars. Meanwhile, Dallas proved that everything is bigger in Texas, with five of the top ten best selling vehicles being trucks or SUVs.

Of the highest selling brands in 2011, St. Louis residents were split between domestics and imports while Dallas residents opted for more import vehicles.  The brands with the highest percentage of buyers from St. Louis include Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Toyota and Nissan. The brands preferred by Dallas buyers include Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Honda and Nissan. Of the top 10, only four are domestics. Both cities had the same brands in the top five.
