This video explains how automakers are creating distracted driving

(July 2, 2023) Everyone rails against distracted driving. Many people believe the greatest cause of distracted driving — which can cause accidents and near accidents — is texting on a cellphone. Eyes off the road even for a few seconds can lead to big trouble. But it seems the biggest cause of distracted driving in 2023 is created by the company that made your car.

So that raises the question why do manufacturers continuing to create massive driving distractions with new and a more complicated touchscreens where many highly used controls are buried behind screen after screen? Why has the simple knob and button that can be used with eyes on the road been all but eliminated from new cars?  It would be difficult to access many of the buried features sitting at your desk in front of a computer, so why is it easier to accomplish these same tasks hurdling down the road at 70 mph?

Perhaps the giant touchscreen with controls we use everyday such as heated seats and interior temperature and fan speed should again be included with good old fashioned knobs and buttons.

The video below explains why knobs and buttons may be a thing of the past and driver distraction may be the new norm.
