Porsche Boxster wins magazine's 'Design of the Year'

(November 8, 2012) Automobile magazine's worldwide team of staff and contributors has selected the new Porsche Boxster as the Design of the Year for 2013.

“With this Boxster, Porsche design chief Michael Mauer has brought the Porsche design team into a realm it has never before occupied, with pure style and pure functionality fused in products of exceptional elegance,” said Robert Cumberford, design editor of Automobile.

The third-generation Boxster, revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, benefits from a wholly redesigned body and chassis. With a longer wheelbase, larger wheels and a new interior concept, the mid-engine sports car takes design cues from the iconic Carrera GT and 550 Spyder models from its lineage.
