BMW Motorrad blends the past with the future in Concept 18

You could see it as a return to the brand’s core, but given a modern twist: the BMW Motorrad Concept R18 transports the essence of the big BMW Motorrad classics into the modern age, or in other words, it is taking a historical motorcycle design and giving it a modern, custom attitude.

'The Revival Birdcage' — Revival Cycles presents unique custom bike

(April 15, 2019) MUNICH — The U.S. American Revival Cycles motorcycle customizers have presented their latest creation. The unique bike named “The Revival Birdcage” is based on the prototype of a completely new type of BMW boxer engine. The bike was unveiled at the exclusive Revival Party on eve of the annually held Handbuilt Show in Austin, Texas.

“The “Revival Birdcage” turned out great and really showcases our Big Boxer perfectly,” said Timo Resch, vice president Sales and Marketing BMW Motorrad.

Petersen Automotive Museum present electric motorcycle exhibit

(April 11, 2019) LOS ANGELES — The Petersen Automotive Museum has debuted the world’s first exhibit dedicated exclusively to electric motorcycles. Located in the Richard Varner Family Gallery, “Electric Revolution” explores the history and current state of the e-bike industry with 21 groundbreaking examples from visionary custom builders and established manufacturers.

Ducati continues to be profitable in 2018

(March 14, 2019) BORGO PANIGALE, Italy — The end of 2018 shows Ducati to have consolidated the growth trend of the past few years for the Italian motorcycle manufacturer. 53,004 motorcycles were delivered to clients all over the world; a result which remains over the 50,000 level for the fourth consecutive year, despite a 2.7% decrease in the global market for motorcycles over 500 cc.

Conditions proved to be especially challenging in the United States as Ducati’s number one market, declining by nearly 9%.

New ARĪV electric bikes from GM available for preorder

(February 14, 2019) DETROIT — GM has announced ARĪV as the name of its new eBike brand, which includes two innovative, integrated and connected eBikes: the Meld, a compact eBike, and the Merge, a folding eBike. The name ARĪV was selected as part of a global crowdsourcing campaign announced in November.

“The crowdsourcing campaign allowed us to bring consumers into the development of our brand,” said Hannah Parish, ARĪV director. “Combine that with our products and our blend of bike and automotive talent, and the result is a unique brand DNA.”

Iconic Harley-Davidson F-150 pickup roars back into showrooms

(February 8, 2019) CHICAGO — Executives with Harley-Davidson and Tuscany Motor Co. have introduced the 2019 Harley-Davidson Ford F-150 pickup truck at the Chicago Auto Show. A concept of the Harley-Davidson branded truck was displayed at the Harley-Davidson 115-year Anniversary celebration in Milwaukee.

Strong reaction to the truck led to the collaboration for an all-new Harley-Davidson F-150. The public can see this exciting new vehicle, which is displayed in Ford Motor Company’s exhibit, from Feb. 9-18.

U.S. households with a motorcycle climb to record 8 percent

(January 24, 2019) IRVINE, Calif. — If you've noticed more motorcycles tucked inside garages across the country, or parked out front, you're not imagining things. Eight percent of U.S. households had at least one bike in 2018, the most ever recorded in decades of polling by the Motorcycle Industry Council.

World's largest vintage motorcycle auction returns to Las Vegas

(January 18, 2019) WALWORTH, Wis. — Mecum’s January Las Vegas-based, vintage and antique motorcycle auction will return to South Point Arena and Equestrian Center’s Priefert Pavilion Tuesday, Jan. 22, through Saturday, Jan. 26, with an estimated 1,750 motorcycles expected to cross the auction block.
 
The annual event is recognized as the largest global familial-like gathering of consignors, buyers and spectators that share a passion for the history, beauty and camaraderie invoked and inspired by vintage and antique motorcycles.
 

Custom Works Zon presents custom bike around prototype BMW engine

(December 13, 2018) Last weekend, a new custom bike — the “Departed” — saw its premiere at this year’s Hot Rod Custom Show in Yokohama, Japan. Japanese motorcycle customizing specialist CUSTOM WORKS ZON presented the custom model commissioned by BMW Motorrad. The centerpiece of the machine is the prototype of a completely new boxer engine.
