Automakers idle plants in path of typhoon



(August 28, 2024) TOKYO — Southwestern Japan braced today for what officials say could be one of the strongest storms to ever hit the region, as some residents in the path of Typhoon Shanshan were ordered to evacuate and automakers idled production.  Toyota said it will suspend operations at all 14 of its plants in Japan from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning, according to a Reuters report.

Volvo Trucks picks Monterrey for $700 million Mexico assembly plant
