Mazda — Factories worldwide will be carbon neutral by 2035



(June 19, 2022) Mazda Motor Corporation has announced its commitment to making Mazda factories globally carbon neutral by 2035, supporting the goal of making the whole Mazda supply chain carbon neutral by 2050. Mazda sees it as the core responsibility of all automotive manufacturers to do their part in curbing global warming by reducing CO2 emissions in every step of vehicle production, including manufacturing, transport, vehicle usage and recycling.

Lunaz unveils world’s first electric classic Jaguar with ocean clean-up textiles



(June 18, 2022) LONDON — Lunaz, one of the world’s leading creator of up-cycled, restored and electrified classic cars, has unveiled a very special customer commission: a 1952 Jaguar XK120 handed over at the Concours on Savile Row in London. The car presented a world-first for a project of this type — a leather-free interior that utilizes ocean clean-up materials. This includes carpets that are woven from reclaimed nylon sea-fishing nets. Additionally, the backing of these carpets is up-cycled from marine plastic pollution such as plastic bottles.

Impending water crisis is subject of TV documentary

Though it covers about 71% of the earth’s surface, more than 97% is found in the ocean, unusable for drinking, growing crops and most industrial uses. In fact, less than 3% of the world’s water is fresh, and, of that, less than 1% is available for human consumption.

Cadillac Celestiq to be built at GM’s Global Technical Center



(June 16, 2022) DETROIT — General Motors announced it will invest more than $81 million into the company’s Global Technical Center in Warren, Mich., to prepare the campus to build the Cadillac Celestiq. The investment will be used to purchase and install related equipment to hand-build the Celestiq, and campus renovation work has already begun.

Mecum to auction large portion of Elmer's Auto and Toy Museum collection



(June 16, 2022) WALWORTH, Wis. — On the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River in the small community of Fountain City, Wis., lies a 90-acre parcel with five buildings that are stocked to the hilt with more than 100 collector cars, over 700 pedal cars, hundreds of bicycles, motorcycles, snowmobiles, thousands of vintage toys and more. Long known worldwide as Elmer’s Auto and Toy Museum, a large portion of the collection will soon be offered at auction by Mecum Auctions at an on-site auction event in Fountain City Sept. 14-17.

Subaru debuts refreshed 2023 Ascent 3-row SUV



(June 15, 2022) Subaru of America has announced the 2023 Ascent 3-row family SUV with updated styling as well as new safety and in-vehicle technologies.  Also new for 2023, the Onyx Edition trim level receives new exterior and interior accents and a comprehensive option package.  The Ascent is available in Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, and Touring trim levels and arrives in Subaru retailers this fall.

2023 Acura Integra makes motorsports debut at Pikes Peak hill climb



(June 15, 202) Perfectly timed to its arrival this month at Acura dealers nationwide, the 2023 Acura Integra will make its motorsports debut June 26 at The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The next-gen Integra will compete in the 100th running of the “Race to the Clouds” alongside four production-based race cars from Acura, including two NSX Type S supercars, all prepped, driven and crewed by a team of volunteer engineers out of the company’s R&D facilities in Ohio.
