Chevy Suburban first vehicle to receive Walk of Fame star

(December 9, 2019) LOS ANGELES — The Chevrolet Suburban has become the first vehicle ever awarded an Award of Excellence star at Hollywood & Highland. Presented by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and unveiled at a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard, the award recognizes Suburban for its 67-year career in Hollywood film and television.

“For six decades the Chevrolet Suburban has been Hollywood’s longest-working actor,” said Rana Ghadban, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Acura’s rare first SUV reimanged with Super Handling All -Wheel Drive

(December 6, 2019) TORRENCE, Calif. — Acura will throw it back to the '90s this weekend with the debut of a restored and reimagined 1997 Acura SLX — the brand’s first SUV and first AWD vehicle — at the RADwood Car Show in Orange County on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Built specifically for RADwood, the SLX’s original 3.2L V6, 4-speed automatic and conventional 4x4 drivetrain were swapped out for Acura’s latest and greatest performance technology — a 350-horsepower, race-tuned 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo, 10-speed automatic transmission and the 4th generation of Acura’s torque-vectoring Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system, all sourced from a third-generation Acura RDX.

General Motors, LG Chem announce plans to mass produce battery cells

(December 6, 2019) DETROIT — General Motors and LG Chem have announced plans to mass-produce battery cells for future battery-electric vehicles. Together, the companies will invest up to $2.3 billion through a new, equally owned joint venture company. The joint venture will establish a battery cell assembly plant on a greenfield manufacturing site in the Lordstown area of Northeast Ohio that will create more than 1,100 new jobs.

A racing Torino



The Ford Torino name was revived in 2008 wth Clint Eastwood's movie "Gran Torino," which focused on a retired guy and his restored 1972 Gran Torino in a Detroit neighborhood. Ford built the mid-sized fastback Torino from 1968 through 1976. This 1970 Torino sponsored by Long-Lewis Ford in Alabama apparently spent some of its life in stock car racing.

Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign deliveries begin in late 2020

(December 5, 2019) YOKOHAMA, Japan — The first customer model of the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign will go on display at the Geneva Motor Show in March, before deliveries of the limited-edition car begin in late 2020. Before then, fans can see the prototype model in locations throughout Japan, including at the 2019 NISMO Festival this Sunday.

Ford and McDonald's collaborate to convert coffee bean skin into car parts

(Decenber 5, 2019) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford Motor Company and McDonald’s USA will soon be giving vehicles a caffeine boost by using part of a familiar staple in the morning routine, coffee beans, in vehicle parts such as headlamp housing.

Every year, millions of pounds of coffee chaff — the dried skin of the bean — naturally comes off during the roasting process. Together, Ford and McDonald’s can provide an innovative new home to a significant portion of that material. The companies found that chaff can be converted into a durable material to reinforce certain vehicle parts.
