Taycan — Porsche announces the name of its first electric sports car

(June 9, 2018) ATLANTA — Series production of the first purely electric Porsche is set to begin next year. In preparation, the vehicle previously operating under the working title "Mission E” has now been given its official name: Taycan. The name can be roughly translated as “lively young horse,” referencing the imagery at the heart of the Porsche crest, which has featured a leaping steed since 1952.

MINI LIVING urban cabin — Micro-apartment concept travels the world

(June 8, 2018) LOS ANGELES — At the LA Design Festival this week, MINI presents the MINI LIVING Urban Cabin in Los Angeles. The micro-apartment concept was developed in an unused attic space in downtown L.A. in collaboration with local architect duo FreelandBuck.

The Urban Cabin in L.A. is now the third interpretation of a concept developed by MINI LIVING last year; there are to be five in all. The Urban Cabin provides temporary living space with a high degree of flexibility and lots of possibilities — on a surface area of just 530 cubic feet.

Mercedes-Benz launches broad luxury vehicle subscription plan in U.S.

A collaboration between Mercedes-Benz USA, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services USA and Mercedes-Benz dealers, Mercedes-Benz Collection allows subscribers to switch between different types of vehicles depending on their needs or lifestyle. The service is available as a pilot in two cities: Nashville, Tenn., and Philadelphia.

New Kia Niro EV revealed; gets 236-mile driving range

BMW launches all-new fourth generation X5 Sports Activity Vehicle

(June 7, 2018) WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. — BMW has launched the all-new 4th generation 2019 BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicle with two variants, the X5 xDrive 40i and the X5 xDrive 50i. Since its introduction almost 20 years ago, the BMW X5 has been built exclusively in Spartanburg, SC. To date, more than 2.2 million X5’s have been sold worldwide, one third of those sales being in the U.S.

The 2019 BMW X5 will again be built at BMW Plant Spartanburg. This center of competence for BMW X models also handles production of the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X6 and will soon add the BMW X7.
