FCA recalling older model trucks in 'salt-belt' states for fuel tank bracket

(March 16, 2018) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — FCA US is voluntarily recalling an estimated 270,254 older-model trucks in the U.S. to reinforce a fuel-tank bracket. A company investigation has discovered a bracket in certain trucks may corrode and cause a vehicle’s fuel tank to sag, though FCA US testing indicates the remaining structural components would help prevent separation.
 

Ford to roll out new Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assist technologies

(March 16, 2018) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford Co-Pilot360 — the most advanced suite of standard driver-assist technologies among full-line brands according to Ford — aims to help people around the world more safely and confidently face congested roads.

Ford Co-Pilot360 includes standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot information system, lane keeping system, rear backup camera and auto high beam lighting.

GM to build production versions of self-driving car at Michigan plant

(March 16, 2018) DETROIT — After more than a year of building test vehicles for development of its self-driving technology, General Motors today announced it will build production versions of its Cruise AV at its Orion Township assembly plant in Michigan. Roof modules for GM’s self-driving vehicles will be assembled at its Brownstown plant.

Jeep brand launching marketing campaigns for Wrangler, 2019 Cherokee

(March 15, 2018) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Jeep brand is launching multi-faceted marketing campaigns for two of its most anticipated new vehicles — the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler and the new 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Both campaigns are running across television and print, in addition to digital and social channels, including Jeep brand’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channels. Each video is the first in the Jeep brand campaigns to launch the respective vehicles.
 

Audi expands traffic light information to 600 intersections in Washington

(March 15, 2018) HERNDON, Va. —Audi of America has announced that more than 600 intersections in the District of Columbia support the “time-to-green” feature of Traffic Light Information.

In 2016, Traffic Light Information was launched in Las Vegas. Audi, in collaboration with Traffic Technology Services (TTS), has brought the service to six other cities including areas of Dallas and Houston, Palo Alto and Arcadia, Calif., Portland, Ore., and Denver. With the addition of Washington, more than 1,600 intersections across the U.S. support Traffic Light Information.

Ford recalls 1.3 million Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles for steering problem

(March 15, 2018) Ford has issued a safety recall in North America for approximately 1.3 million 2014-18 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles for potentially loose steering wheel bolts that could result in a steering wheel detaching from the steering column.

In affected vehicles, the steering wheel bolt may not maintain torque, allowing the bolt to loosen over time, and if not serviced, a steering wheel could potentially detach and lead to a loss of steering control and increased risk of a crash.

When it comes to potholes, Toyota lets a robot take the wheel

There are a few times during development, however, when that hands-on, human touch isn’t always the best solution. That’s why Toyota is using automated vehicle technology during an evaluation of new vehicles known as rough-road durability testing.

Nissan honored as featured marque at the 2018 Classic Motorsports Mitty

(March 14, 2018) BRASELTON, Ga. — Nissan/Datsun has been selected as the featured marque for the Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Speedfest vintage races at the upcoming Classic Motorsports Mitty vintage festival, where legendary Datsun/Nissan race driver John Morton will serve as the grand marshal.

Now in its 41st year, the Mitty festival — the longest-running vintage and historic race in the U.S. — returns to the celebrated Road Atlanta road course the weekend of April 26-29.
