(February 18, 2018) Subaru of America last week marked its 50th Anniversary with a ceremony for its more than 50 employees at the automaker’s Cherry Hill, N.J., headquarters conducted by Thomas J. Doll, president and COO. Doll and Subaru employees, dressed in matching gold 50th anniversary T-shirts, counted down to zero on a 50th anniversary digital clock that has been marking down days in Subaru headquarters for a year.

Hyundai revises Sonata Hybrid lineup

(February 17, 2018) The 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid comes in two flavors Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid. Both use Hyundai’s 2.0-liter direct-injected gasoline engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Both replace the transmission’s torque converter with an electric motor and clutch unit, and use an electric oil pump to improve efficiency. And both mount their lithium-ion battery under the trunk floor.

Corvair minus top



This second-generation (1965-1969) Chevrolet Corvair convertible was found sans a top in retirement off Route 66 in New Mexico. The rear engine Corvair was built from 1960-1969. In the first year of the second generation, Corvair sales hit 247,092, but steadily dropped off through the last year of production in 1969 when only 6,000 cars were built.
