The idea is the brainchild of Christian Mygh and Jonathan Kamstrup, who together scour salvage yards around the world for models, each of which can be transformed into hundreds of unique timepieces, costing from $1,495.

An Arizona Catalina



A reworked full-sized Pontiac Catalina came to market in 1959 and was completely redesigned in 1961 kicking off the second-generation, which was built through 1964. This 1963 model was recently found in Arizona. The '63 model was refreshed with cleaner, squared-off body lines and vertical headlights flanking a split grille. V-8 engine offerings came with 338, 353 and 370 horsepower.

(December 9, 2017) ATLANTA — Porsche Cars North America, in collaboration with Porsche Design, has introduced a concept store that will enhance the customer experience by combining the worlds of luxury retail and the finest sports cars.

With 1,600 square feet of retail space, the new store at the renowned South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif., carries Porsche Design merchandise, has a regularly rotating vehicle display, and houses a 16-foot by 9-foot high-definition video wall.

A Subaru as big as the (Australian) Outback

(December 8, 2017) Subaru should be thankful that most people interested in its new American made crossover, the Ascent, won’t remember a similarly named, American made SUV sold by another Japanese automaker, the Isuzu Ascender. Then again, Subaru probably is more interested in potential buyers not associating its new large crossover with its old one, the slightly cramped and unfortunately styled Tribeca.

The Corvette in the late '70s



Government-mandated 5 mph crash bumpers were added to the Chevrolet Corvette in the mid-70s. This circa 1975-79 Vette, in need of a new windshield and a thorough restoration, sports those front bumpers. The Corvette was found off U.S. 301 in eastern North Carolina. The 1979 Corvette topped 50,000 units sold for the first time in its history.

Jaguar Land Rover goes from waste to wave in Los Angeles

(December 7, 2017) LOS ANGELES — Closing out the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, Jaguar Land Rover surfboards hit the water for the first time in North America on the shores of El Porto Beach in Manhattan Beach, Calif., on Dec. 1. Created as part of the Jaguar Land Rover "Waste to Wave" project, first debuting at Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest in September, the boards are made from recycled polyurethane foam used as the structure in discarded vehicle design studio models.
