BMW X2 and 2019 BMW i8 Coupe to make world debuts in Detroit

(December 18, 2017) One year after the BMW X2 Concept appeared in Detroit, the all-new BMW X2 will make its world debut at the 2018 North American International Auto Show on Jan. 15. In addition, the 2019 BMW i8 Coupe will also make its world debut at the show and will be featured alongside a number of electrified BMW vehicles.

The all-new BMW X2 is the latest addition to the BMW X family. The first-ever BMW X2 has a distinctive exterior design that combines the fast-moving body language and low-slung proportions of a coupe with the robust construction of a BMW X model.

Petersen Automotive Museum episodes now feature guests in cars

(December 16, 2017) LOS ANGELES — The Petersen Automotive Museum has announced that after more than 200 episodes of its popular CarStories podcast, featuring guests ranging from Richard Rawlings to Cheech Marin, the show is being expanded to offer even more ways to enjoy the content and hear people’s stories about their love affair with the automobile.

Rather than a studio setting, guests will now tell their stories from behind the wheel of their vehicle, driving the roads of Southern California around the Petersen Museum.

BMW announces construction of new proving ground in Czech Republic

(December 15, 2017) Representatives of the BMW Group, the Czech government and the Karlovary Vary region announced construction of a new proving ground in Prague. The roughly 1,235-acre property will be developed in Sokolov in the Karlovary Vary region, close to the German border town of Waldsassen and about two-and-a-half hours’ drive from the BMW Group’s main development site, the Research and Development Centre in Munich.

Ford moving autonomous and electric vehicle teams to historic building

(December 15, 2017) DETROIT— Ford has revealed plans to move its key autonomous vehicle and electric vehicle business and strategy teams to the city where the company got its start. Ford is moving the teams to a historic building known as The Factory — a recently refurbished industrial complex with a rich 110-year history — in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood.
