Ford launches first plug-in hybrid vehicle for police, government customers

(November 21, 2017) DEARBORN, Mich. — Earlier this year, Ford revealed the world’s first-ever pursuit-rated hybrid police vehicle. Today, the company is giving law enforcement an even more efficient option with the reveal of a plug-in hybrid vehicle capable of driving up to 21 miles without a drop of gas.

The Special Service Plug-In Hybrid Sedan, the first plug-in hybrid police vehicle from Ford, is designed for police and fire chiefs, detectives, and other government personnel whose jobs don’t require a pursuit-rated vehicle.

Porsche introduces 'Tech Live Look' to improve technical services

(November 21, 2017) ATLANTA — Porsche Cars North America has announced the introduction of "Tech Live Look," an Augmented Reality (AR) technology designed to improve technical services at Porsche dealerships in the United States.

"Tech Live Look" uses the AiR Enterprise software platform from Atheer, Inc., a leading provider of AR solutions, in conjunction with lightweight smart glasses. These high-tech spectacles feature the latest in projection technology and come equipped with a high-resolution, auto focus camera that shows even fine details such as threading on screws.

Volvo to supply 24,000 autonomous driving cars to Uber

(November 21, 2017) Volvo Cars has signed a framework agreement with Uber, the ride sharing company, to sell 24,000  autonomous driving compatible base vehicles between 2019 and 2021. The base vehicles are developed on Volvo Cars’ fully modular, in-house developed Scalable Product Architecture (SPA).

Honda begins selling 2018 Accord 2.0T this week

Polestar begins construction of its state-of-the-art production center in China

(November 20, 2017) Polestar has announced that construction of its new state-of-the-art Polestar Production Centre has started in Chengdu, China, where the company’s first model, the Polestar 1, will be produced.  This follows the announcement of the new Polestar brand on Oct. 17, and continues the momentum built from the launch.

The Polestar Production Centre is due for completion by mid-2018 to be ready to start tooling installation and pre-production testing — an aggressive and challenging nine-month construction plan.

Ford is ready to roll as official vehicle of Detroit Thanksgiving parade

(November 20, 2017) DETROIT — A new and expanded fleet of Ford SUVs will be doing the heavy hauling when the 91st edition of America’s Thanksgiving Parade — one of Ford Motor Company’s signature community events — rolls along Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit. The parade on Nov. 23 will be led by a trio of Ford SUVs — the all-new Ford Expedition, the Ford Explorer and the all-new Ford EcoSport — the smallest of Ford’s sport utility vehicles.

BMW Group to electrify Los Angeles Auto Show

(November 20, 2017) Reinforcing its commitment to offer 25 electrified models —12 of which will be purely electric — by 2025, BMW Group will showcase five electric vehicles at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show beginning Nov. 29. Vehicles include the North American premieres of the BMW i Vision Dynamics, MINI Electric Concept, BMW i3s, and a world premiere vehicle.

The remains of a Chevy van



This dissected 1951 Chevy panel van was found in a North Carolina salvage yard. As part of Chevrolet's light-commercial fleet, Chevy produced a car-based sedan delivery with its new iteration beginning in 1950.  It was a derivative of the steel-bodied station wagon, but with only two doors and no side windows. When the van was first introduced it was an immediate hit with orders topping 23,000 in 1950.
