S90 sedan among Volvos soon to be coming to the U.S. from China

(November 3, 2016) Volvo Cars has unveiled a new manufacturing strategy for China in which production capacity will be increased and China will be developed into a global manufacturing and export hub servicing growing demand for its new range of cars in the U.S., Europe and Asia Pacific. Volvo Cars will make its top-of-the-range S90-series cars based on its Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) at its plant in Daqing, Heilongjiang province, in northern China.

Wrong car for the wrong time



Ford designed the Edsel to be a cut above the Ford brand to compete with models from GM's Oldsmobile and Pontiac brands and Chrysler's DeSoto. But the Edsel, manufactured for just three model years (1958-1960), never caught on with the public, and was labeled "the wrong car for the wrong time." Mopar unlocks new crate HEMI engine kits at SEMA

(November 2, 2016) LAS VEGAS — The Mopar brand has announced  new Mopar Crate HEMI Engine Kits that provide enthusiasts a factory-backed, efficient option for plugging Gen III HEMI engines into iconic Mopar vehicles from the 1970s and earlier.

The new Mopar 345 Crate HEMI Engine Kit for the 5.7-liter engine and Mopar 392 Crate HEMI Engine Kit for the 6.4-liter HEMI can be paired with model year 1975 and earlier vehicles, enabling owners to inject modern HEMI power into muscle-car era machines such as the Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Plymouth ‘Cuda and many other makes and models.

New vehicle sales slip in October

(November 2, 2016) The largest volume automaakers selling new vehicles in the United States all reported declines in October sales compared to October 2015. The negative results all but dashed hopes the industry will set a new volume mark for 2016. Sales were down at General Motors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Volkswagen.

Ford did not report sales Tuesday because of a fire Monday at its world headquarters in Dearborn, Mich. Analysts predict Ford's October sales will fall 11 percent.

Subaru bucks the October slide with record monthly sales

(November 2, 2016) CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Subaru of America has reported 53,760 vehicle sales for October, a 4.1 percent increase over October 2015 sales of 51,629 vehicles. The company also reported year-to-date sales of 500,647 vehicles, a 4.2 percent gain over the same period in 2015.

Toyota goes to extreme with SEMA show cars

(November 2, 2016) LAS VEGAS — Toyota has revealed an unprecedented suite of 30 vehicles on display at the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show this week. Toyota selected each vehicle to either honor the past, explore the present or reveal the extreme — and in some extreme cases, all three of these elements come into play. There is even a special display honoring Corolla’s 50 years.

Toyota to establish car-sharing and other mobility services

(November 1, 2016) TOYOTA CITY, Japan — Toyota will establish a Mobility Services Platform (MSPF) to collaborate with various service providers, as well as telematics insurance.  Based on the proliferation and popularity of mobility services, like car-sharing; the MSPF will have various functions to support mobility services, and leverage the Toyota Smart Center (TSC), the Toyota Big Data Center, and financial services.
