Leaving the desk for more glamorous testing

(October 21, 2016) HOUGHTON, Mich. —  When it comes to developing parts and systems for tomorrow’s cars and trucks, engineers at Toyota’s North American R&D headquarters in Southeast Michigan spend a lot of time at their desks crunching data, working on CAD images and doing some of the less glamorous work that goes into making ever better cars. Some of that work, however, is far from ho-hum and far from the desk.

2016 Buick global sales pass 1 million at record pace

(October 20, 2016) DETROIT ― Through September, global Buick deliveries worldwide totaled 1,046,746 vehicles for 2016. At no other point in the brand’s 113 years of business has this milestone been reached so quickly. Compared to the same span in 2015, nearly 200,000 more customers have taken delivery of a new Buick car or SUV.

Buick’s year-over-year growth of 23 percent is the highest in the industry for major brands selling vehicles in both North America and China. With three months left in the year, Buick is on track for its fourth consecutive all-time global sales record.

Ford rethinks car interiors

Subaru announces pricing on all-new 2017 Impreza models

The Impreza debuts the new Subaru Global Platform that is designed to deliver significantly higher levels of driving engagement, interior refinement, crash protection and ride comfort. As with previous generations, every Impreza is equipped standard with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Pricing begins just $100 over previous model year at $19,215 including destination charge.
 

Chevrolet Blue Line concepts shown ahead of SEMA show

(Octobr 19, 2016) DETROIT — Chevrolet previewed the Malibu and Cruze RS hatchback Blue Line concepts today ahead of their Nov. 1 public debut at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Blending equal parts style, performance and function, they demonstrate the lifestyle and personalization possibilities of the brand’s latest vehicles — all with sophisticated aesthetics. Both of the concept vehicles feature Genesis White exteriors accented with blue-tinted windows and 18-inch concept wheels painted slate blue metallic.

Auto Collectors Garage to offer 16 restored cars for auction

(October 19, 2016) HOUSTON — Auto Collectors Garage (ACG) has announced its participation with 16 prized and restored classic cars in the Nov. 25-26, 2016 Dan Kruse Classics auction, which will be held during the Houston AutoRama set for Nov.24-27 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

ACG is a long-time Houston area classic car restoration company which was founded by industry expert, Ken Dougherty, in 1979. Since then, ACG has been engaged in restoration and sales of everything from a 1929 Duesenburg to 50's and 60's classics and muscle cars.

Mecum to display two cars, motorcycles at SEMA in Las Vegas

(October 19, 2016) WALWORTH, Wis.— Mecum Auctions returns to the SEMA Show Nov. 1-4 with a display of stunning cars and motorcycles along with the Mecum Mobile Experience in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Leading off the vehicles on display is a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window Coupe Resto Mod (pictured below) built by Jeff Hayes of American Speed Shop of Bloomington, Ind. Hayes is no stranger to building show-winning Corvette Resto Mods, most notably ones based on the mid-year variety comprising the years 1963 to 1967.

Audi Q7 now available in U.S. with turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine

(October 19, 2016) Audi of America has announced the new 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder diesel engine will now be offered on 2017 Audi Q7 models. Audi says the new model, when equipped with the 2.0-liter engine, is faster, lighter and more efficient than the previous generation Q7 3.0T V6.

With 252 hp and 273 pound-feet of torque, the Q7 with 2.0T engine reaches 60 mph a half-second faster than the previous generation 2015 Q7 3.0T V6 model.
