Toyota announces two recalls involving nearly 17,000 vehicles

(April 7, 2016) TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota has announced that it is recalling approximately 230 model year 2016 Sienna minivans,  approximately 4,170 model year 2016 Toyota RAV4; approximately 90 model year 2016 Lexus RX 350; and approximately 12,400 model year 2016 Lexus ES 350.

Volvo to launch China's most advanced autonomous driving experiment

(April 7, 2016) Volvo Cars plans to launch China’s most advanced autonomous driving experiment in which local drivers will test autonomous driving cars on public roads in everyday driving conditions.

Volvo expects the experiment to involve up to 100 cars and will in coming months begin negotiations with interested cities in China to see which is able to provide the necessary permissions, regulations and infrastructure to allow the experiment to go ahead.

Ford invests $170 million to expand assembly plant in South Africa

(April 6, 2016) PRETORIA, South Africa — Ford is investing R2.5-billion ($170 million) to expand operations in South Africa at its Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria, South Africa, to produce the all-new Ford Everest, along with the new Ford Ranger that was launched at the end of last year.

This investment will create approximately 1,200 new jobs at Ford South Africa and within the South African supplier network.

First Corvette Grand Sport Collector's Edition to be auctioned for charity

Ford investing $1.6 billion in new small-car plant in Mexico

(April 6, 2016) MEXICO CITY — Further increasing its competitiveness, Ford is investing $1.6 billion in a new small car plant in Mexico, building a new manufacturing site in San Luis Potosi State. Ford will begin construction this summer. The new plant will create 2,800 additional direct jobs by 2020.
