Ford issues safety recalls involving more than 131,000 vehicles

(October 28, 2015) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford is issuing two safety recalls and one safety compliance recall in North America. Ford is not aware of any accidents, injuries or fires related to these conditions. The biggest recalls involve nearly 129,000 model year 2009-2010 Ford Edge vehicles.

Aston Martin DB10 in spotlight at Spectre world premiere

(October 28, 2015) LONDON — The first Aston Martin sports car in half a century to be built exclusively for James Bond — took its place on the red carpet at last night’s world premiere charity screening of Spectre.

The world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in London was attended by Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry, and was screened for The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund’s (CTBF) Royal Film Performance 2015.

Ford reports record profit in third quarter

(October 28, 2015) DETROIT — Ford on Tuesday reported its best-ever quarter in North America more than doubling its global earnings from a year earlier as redesigns of the F-150 and other high-profit nameplates began to pay off. Ford posted third-quarter net income of $1.9 billion, up from $833 million in the same period of 2014.

With stocks of the F-150 pickup and other important vehicles back to normal levels, Ford is expected to produce big profits in the second half of the year.

GM recalling 1.4 million older vehicles for fire hazard

(October 28, 2015) General Motors is recalling 1.4 million older vehicles in its third major attempt to fix a defect that can cause the engine to catch fire. Covered under the recall are the 1997-2004 Buick Regal, 2000-04 Chevrolet Impala, 1998-99 Chevrolet Lumina, 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1998-99 Oldsmobile Intrigue and 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. Each has a 3.8-liter, V-6 3800 engine.

During hard braking, oil can drop onto the hot exhaust manifold, potentially causing engine compartment fires, GM said in a statement.

Mazda reveals next-generation rotary engine in RX-Vision concept

(October 28, 2015) HIROSHIMA, Japan — Mazda unveiled the rotary-powered Mazda RX-Vision sports car concept at the Tokyo Motor Show on Tuesday. Mazda says the rotary engine is a symbol of the company’s “never-stop-challenging” spirit. The introduction of the new engine comes three years after Mazda ended production of the rotary-engine powered RX-8 sports car.

Giant corn maze on Ohio farm inspired by new Ford F-150

(October 28, 2015) DEARBORN, Mich. — Inspired by the all-new Ford F-150, Leaders Farms near Napoleon, Ohio, has created a seven-acre corn maze as a tribute to Ford’s latest half-ton pickup — "the toughest, smartest, most capable F-150 ever."

Leaders Farms has been entertaining Midwestern families and local schools for 18 years with challenging corn mazes that can take up to an hour to complete assuming visitors don’t get lost in the wheels.

Chevrolet readies shipments of 2016 Camaro

(October 27, 2015) LANSING, Mich. — The wait is over. Chevrolet announced today it will begin shipping the all-new 2016 Camaro to dealers. The first wave of production models will leave the plant by the end of this week and should arrive at dealerships for customer delivery by mid-November.

The Gen Six Camaro rolls off the line at GM’s Lansing Grand River Assembly facility, which received a $175-million upgrade in tooling and equipment to support its production.
