Cadillac partners with design house; shows first images of XT5 crossover

(September 22, 2015) DETROIT — Cadillac earlier this month announced a unique project in which its all-new luxury crossover, the XT5, will debut at venues around the world in partnership with acclaimed fashion designers Public School. At the same time Cadillac provided a first look at the all-new crossover.

Public School announced it would debut its Pre-Fall collection on the runway in Dubai, in collaboration with the launch of the first-ever 2017 Cadillac XT5. It is also creating an XT5-inspired capsule collection for the special invited guests at the Dubai show in November.

Mercedes concept alters its shape at 50 mph for better aerodynamics

(September 22, 2015) The Mercedes-Benz "Concept IAA" (Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile) is two cars in one — an aerodynamics world champion with a Cd value of 0.19 and a four-door coupé embodying irresistible design.

The study, which celebrated its world premiere at the Frankfurt International Motor Show last week, switches automatically from design mode to aerodynamic mode when the vehicle reaches a speed of 50 mph, whereby numerous aerodynamics measures alter the shape of the vehicle.

Hyundai partners with Bisimoto to create 700 horsepower Tucson

(September 22, 2015) FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. — Hyundai has revealed the most-powerful 2016 Tucson ever created, built by the powertrain gurus at Bisimoto Engineering for 2015 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Marketing Association). Partnering for a fourth straight year, Bisimoto’s “Brute Ute” will be revealed at Hyundai’s SEMA press conference on Nov. 3 in Las Vegas.

Ford enhances SYNC Applink for app developers

Chevrolet SS gets exterior enhancements for 2016

(September 21, 2015) DETROIT — Building on the performance-oriented updates made to the Chevrolet SS last year, the 2016 model features several exterior enhancements that reinforce its presence on the road. A revised front fascia features new, vertical ducts at the outer edges to direct airflow over the front wheel openings to improve aerodynamic efficiency.

The fascia also incorporates new LED signature lighting, while new, functional hood vents and new-design 19-inch cast-aluminum wheels contribute to a stronger appearance for the rear-drive sports sedan.

Ford to provide custom Mustang Shelby GT350 for charity auction

(September 21, 2015) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford has announced the auction of a one-of-a-kind 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R for the 2015 Cattle Baron’s Ball auction on Saturday, Sept. 26. The special edition Mustang Shelby GT350R will be one-of-a-kind created for the event featuring an Oxford white exterior with unique blue stripe and color design.

Mercedes-Benz to invest $1.3 billion in Alabama plant to build SUVs

(September 20, 2015) TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Mercedes-Benz will expand SUV production in the U.S. creating 300 new jobs at its plant in Tuscaloosa. The plant will also assemble hybrid versions with the expansion to include a new body shop, major enhancements to the SUV Assembly Shop, and upgrads to logistics and IT systems.

EPA charges Volkswagen with diesel engine emissions controls violations

(September 19, 2015) Volkswagen and Audi sold about 482,000 diesel vehicles with illegal emissions control software designed to make their cars appear cleaner in testing than they are in the real world, the EPA asserted on Friday.

The software, included on VW and Audi vehicles from the 2009-15 model years with 2.0-liter turbodiesel engines, detects when a car is undergoing EPA emissions testing and turns on the vehicle’s full emissions controls. The software then switched off the full emissions controls during real-world driving, the EPA said in a statement.
