Mercedes-Benz enjoying strong sales year in 2015

(June 8, 2015) STUTTGART, Germany — Mercedes-Benz sold 151,135 vehicles in May, 12.8% more than in the same month of the previous year. And Mercedes has also recorded a double-digit sales increase since the beginning of the year with deliveries rising by 13.6% to 728,809 vehicles.

"With the GLC, which celebrates its world premiere in Germany this month, we plan to build on our success story,” said Ola Källenius, member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG. “Its predecessor, the GLK, is currently our top-selling SUV.”

Sports car dreams come true for UK automotive company

MMI, a privately owned U.K. automotive company founded and run by retired industrialist Martin Miles, bought the Strathcarron sport car project after that company failed more than a decade ago. Deep learning at the core of Audi piloted driving

(June 7, 2015) HERNDON, Va. — As Audi perfects its approach to piloted driving, its engineers are relying on an advancement that developers call “deep learning” to train computers to imitate the human brain. Progress in this form of machine learning was crucial for the piloted-driving run of “Jack,” the Audi A7 Sedan that transported a group of automotive journalists some 550 miles from Silicon Valley to the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January.

GMC, Instagram create one-of-a-kind images

(June 6, 2015) DETROIT — If a picture is worth a thousand words, GMC hopes consumers will have a lot to say about #GMCprecision, a new Instagram campaign that uses dramatic panoramic photography to illustrate the attention to detail in its vehicles.

The month-long campaign launched May 22, with GMC among the first automotive brands to create “PanoGrams” via the Instagram Carousel format that debuted earlier this year. It allows consumers to swipe through a series of photos in a single ad, similar to the way a traditional magazine publishes a multi-page spread of a single image.

Twenty years young — New VW Sharan available for order

The seven-seat people-carrier, the first generation of which was unveiled in 1995, has been refreshed and now features improved specification as well as a range of engines which all meet EU6 standards and are up to 15 per cent more efficient than those they replace.

526-horsepower Shelby GT350 Mustang exceeds 100 horsepower per liter

(June 5, 2015) Ford announced this week the most powerful naturally aspirated road-going engine in its history. The all-new Ford 5.2-liter flat-plane crankshaft V8 will produce 526 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque in Shelby GT350 Mustang and Shelby GT350R Mustang — an engine unique to the two models set to go on sale this fall.

“The Shelby GT350 program began with a clear objective — create the most balanced, nimble and exhilarating production Mustang yet,” said Jamal Hameedi, Ford Performance chief engineer.
