GT12 to highlight Aston Martin presence at Goodwood Festival

(June 22, 2015) Lincoln’s Navigator isn’t the only large SUV at the end of its useful life. Audi’s Methuselah-like Q7 shares its underpinnings with the VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne, and has been around since the 2006 model year (2007 in North America). There have been a steady stream of updates over its 10-year life, and a major facelift in 2009. However, the current Q7, which is soon to be replaced by the second generation, is showing its age.

Porsche completes production of 918 Spyder

(June 20, 2015) ATLANTA — The Porsche 918 Spyder has completed a remarkable journey. After 21 months of production, the final Porsche 918 Spyder came off the assembly line earlier this week in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen right on schedule. The limited edition car was limited to 918 units. But the legacy of this technology pioneer will reach far beyond its production time. Future generations of sports cars will benefit directly from innovations found in the 918 Spyder.

An ‘extraordinary’ car and a famous movie vehicle to be sold

(June 19, 2015) LONDON — Captain Nemo's six-wheeled Nautilus car from Sean Connery’s adventure movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen will be sold by international auctioneers Coys at their Blenheim Palace auction on July 11.

Designed by production designer and art director Carol Spier and one of only two made, this fully functional and complete vehicle was used throughout the film and features heavily on the promotional posters. Its twin was rigged with scaffolding for filming the actor's close-ups.

Leading auto sculptors, designers credit dad for creative calling

(June 19, 2015) WARREN, Mich. — Roman Lys went from carving his own childhood toys from wood in Poland — out of necessity — to creating intricate vehicle exterior feature lines in clay as a master sculptor in the Buick design studio.

His son, Robert Lys, is a lead sculptor in another brand studio, and doesn’t believe the father-son career connection is mere coincidence. Another son, Daniel, also is a sculptor in GM Design.

Infiniti shows new Q30 compact in camouflage

To the moon and back — Hyundai fuel cell drivers cover 477,800 miles

(June 18, 2015) FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. — Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell drivers have again surpassed an impressive threshold, accumulating enough emissions-free miles to reach the lunar surface and return, all while emitting only clean water vapor.

A trip from the Earth to the moon and back varies with each lunar orbit, with 477,800 miles as an average round-trip distance. Hyundai has delivered 70 Tucson Fuel Cells since its introduction as the first mass-produced fuel cell in the U.S. market in June 2014.

Ram 1500 Rebel production begins in Michigan
