Fiat travels west for this summer's 2014 Open Road Challenge

The road trip will began June 18 in Seattle and will make stops in Portland, San Francisco and finally Los Angeles on June 23.

Durability tests included the equivalent of driving 4.3 million miles — or 275 round-the-world trips — at state-of-the-art proving grounds and in extreme conditions across the globe where temperatures ranged from 104 to -40 degrees.

GM recalling another 3.16 million cars in U.S. for ignition key problem

(June 17, 2014) DETROIT — General Motors will rework or replace the ignition keys on about 3.16 million 2000 to 2014 model year cars in the U.S. because the ignition switch may inadvertently move out of the “run” position if the key is carrying extra weight and experiences some jarring event.

The use of a key with a hole, rather than a slotted key, addresses the concern of unintended key rotation due to a jarring road event, such as striking a pothole or crossing railroad tracks.
