(June 1, 2014) DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford is bringing to market a new generation of steering technology that will help make vehicles easier to maneuver at low speeds and in tight spaces. At higher speeds, the new technology will help make the vehicle more agile and fun to drive.

(May 31, 2014) As you might have heard by now, Volkswagen has released preliminary information for the new Passat sedan and station wagon. Built off the latest iteration of the MQB platform, the new car is 187 pounds lighter than the car it replaces, marginally smaller outside, and has more interior room and luggage capacity than before.

Ford recalling nearly 1.4 million vehicles; most for power steering problem

(May 31, 2014) Ford is recalling nearly 1.39 million SUVs and sedans in North America, most for the possible loss of power steering. Ford said it will recall 195,527 Explorer SUVs in North America from the 2011 to 2013 model years and 915,216 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner SUVs from model years 2008 to 2011 on power steering issues.

Also, Ford said it will recall nearly 200,000 Taur
us sedans in North America from the 2010 to 2014 model years on a corrosion issue.

Volkswagen reveals 496-horsepower GTI Roadster concept

(May 30, 2014) Volkswagen is turning the virtual world into reality this weekend, as it presents the GTI Roadster concept at the famous Woerthersee GTI meeting in Austria.

The GTI Roadster was originally created as a purely electronic car, to feature in the Sony PlayStation 3 classic, Gran Turismo 6 (GT6).  The result of cooperation between Volkswagen and Sony Computer Entertainment, the GTI Roadster is the work of three young Volkswagen designers, winners of an in-house competition to design a vehicle to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Gran Turismo game.

Toyota celebrates 10-millionth vehicle made in Kentucky

(May 30, 2014) GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Avery Bussell Jr. always thought he’d be a farmer.  However, with times on the family farm a little tough in 1988, the 22-year-old threw his name into the mix for a job at a new company that was setting up shop 55 miles away — Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK).

One small problem: he was one of over 100,000 others who were applying for about 3,000 jobs.

“I didn’t think I had a chance to get hired,” Bussell said.  “But, I did, and it changed my life.”

Ford tests cargo box of new F-150 in real-world conditions

(May 30, 2014) Ford went beyond its labs to test a key part of the all-new Ford F-150. The company embedded six prototype pickups — each with an experimental aluminum-alloy cargo box — at some of its fleet customer job sites then quietly went about evaluating the design and engineering of the next-generation pickup in the toughest conditions.

Three longstanding Ford fleet customers, unaware of Ford’s experiment, took delivery of prototype F-150s with current steel bodies and all-new, high-strength, aluminum-alloy cargo boxes in 2011.

Keeping score with GM's 2014 recalls

(May 29, 2014) General Motors has recalled nearly 14 million vehicles in North America, more than any other year and almost 20 times the number of recalls during the same period in 2013. The biggest recall involving 2.6 million vehicles is over a faulty ignition switch. To sum things up, GM has developed a chart of 2014 recalls so that you can keep score.

New Nissan Murano to be built in Mississippi; 500 new jobs created

(May 29, 2014) CANTON, Miss. — Production of the all-new 2015 Nissan Murano crossover later this fall means 500 new jobs for Nissan's Vehicle Assembly Plant in Canton, Miss.

The 2015 Murano will be the first Murano produced in the United States and the eighth model assembled at Nissan's Canton plant. The plant will be the global source for Murano production, creating export opportunities to more than 100 markets.
