Porsche to name its new small SUV the Macan

(February 16, 2012) Porsche today confirmed the name for its forthcoming new sports car in the SUV segment is Macan. Porsche says the name Macan is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger and combines suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics — core characteristics of this new all-terrain car.

“The Macan combines all sports car characteristics with the benefits of an SUV and is a genuine Porsche”, said Bernhard Maier, executive vice president sales and marketing.

Audi's performance wagon revealed before Geneva show

(February 15, 2012) The latest hot-rod wagon from Audi, the 2013 RS 4 Avant, were revealed today nearly a month before the car’s scheduled debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The “RS” prefix signifies a performance version of a regular Audi model, Audi’s version of BMW’s M Division and Mercedes-Benz’s AMG in-house tuner. To show that the RS4 is more than an ordinary station wagon, Audi gave it some more aggressive exterior styling, including a new front fascia with larger, lower air intakes, flared wheel arches, and a rear diffuser with cannon-sized tailpipes.

Infiniti sponsors film festival celebrating East Asian cinema

(February 15, 2012) ROLLE, Switzerland — Infiniti, a luxury performance automotive brand from Japan, is sponsoring an international film festival celebrating East Asian cinema to be held at Coventry University, UK, from March 2 to 4.

This is the second year that the festival has run but the first time it has attracted a major sponsor. It is also the first time Infiniti has connected with the arts so publicly in the UK. 

Ford receives nearly 500 hybrid patents developing 47-mpg 2013 Fusion hybrid

(February 15, 2012) DEARBORN, Mich. — The road to the new Ford Fusion Hybrid’s 47 mpg — expected to be America’s most fuel-efficient non-rechargeable sedan — can be traced back to Ford’s electrified vehicle team and the nearly 500 patents Ford now holds for its hybrid technology.

All-new Hyundai Azera to start at $32,875

(February 14, 2012) COSTA MESA, Calif. — Hyundai said today that redesigned 2012 Azera would start at $32,875 including destination charge for the well-equipped base model and $36,875 for the range-topping Azera with Technology Package.

Hyundai says the all-new Azera has so many new standard features that it is better equipped than the outgoing, fully-loaded, previous generation 2011 Azera Limited.

Chevrolet Cruze wagon to debut in Geneva

(February 14, 2012) ZURICH — The Chevrolet Cruze station wagon, the third variant of Chevrolet’s most-popular car, will make its global premiere at the 82nd International Geneva Motor Show early next month.

The station wagon  complements the Cruze sedan and hatchback, which together have combined sales of more than 1 million vehicles globally since launch in 2009. Unfortunately for U.S. customers, Chevrolet has no plans to bring the wagon to North America.

Chevrolet TrailBlazers probed for door fires

(February 14, 2012) Federal safety regulators are investigating fires in the driver's side doors of Chevy TrailBlazers, according to the Detroit News. It's the second such investigation announced in a week.
