Fuel efficiency comes standard at the L.A. Auto Show

Subaru to offer satellite radio on all 2012 models

(October 10, 2011) NEW YORK — Sirius XM Radio and Subaru of America today announced that Subaru will offer satellite radio on all models beginning with 2012 model year vehicles. Additionally, all 2012 model year Legacy and Outback Limited models will come standard with factory-installed satellite radio.

All Subaru customers purchasing new satellite radio-equipped vehicles will automatically receive a 4-month trial subscription to the XM Select package which includes more than 130 channels of commercial-free music, premier sports, news, talk and comedy from SiriusXM.

Chevrolet Identifies 16 carbon-reduction projects

(October 9, 2011) DETROIT — Chevrolet is helping support 16 projects across America — from biomass to wind turbines — as part of its commitment to spend up to $40 million on carbon reduction. The agreements account for half of Chevrolet’s goal of preventing up to 8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the air during the next five years.

Mercedes gains naming rights at the Louisiana Superdome

(October 8, 2011) Mercedes-Benz and its three pointed star are setting roots down at the Louisiana Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints, through a 10-year agreement that provides official naming rights among other sponsorship benefits including being named the Official and Exclusive vehicle of the New Orleans Saints.

Dodge Journey 'Search Engine for the Real World' giveaway has final winner

(October 8, 2011) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Melissa Sweeney, of Woodbridge, Va., tracked down the third and final 2012 Dodge Journey hidden inside a barn in St. George, Maine, as part of the Dodge brand's "Search Engine for the Real World" campaign and vehicle giveaway.

Sweeney found the 2012 Journey with help from family members contributing to the search efforts from home.

Renault-Nissan to invest $1.8 billion in Brazil

(October 8, 2011) RIO DE JANEIRO — The Renault-Nissan Alliance announced new investments this week of at least 3.1 billion Brazilian reais — $1.8 billion — to expand manufacturing and sales throughout Brazil, one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

Nearly two dozen new products specifically adapted to Brazilian consumers' needs are the cornerstone of Alliance's aggressive "Brazilian offensive."

Camaro ZL1 gets workout at Nurburgring

(October 7, 2011) DETROIT — The 2012 Camaro ZL1 recently recorded a 7:41.27 lap at the Nurburgring. That is nearly 40 seconds quicker than a Camaro SS tested at the legendary German track in 2009. Measuring 12.9 miles (20.8 km) and including some 154 turns, the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife (“north loop”) is widely considered the world’s most-demanding course.

The new colors of Ford

(October 7, 2011) NEW YORK — The harvest of exterior color for Ford’s upcoming vehicles offers classic neutrals and strong earthy tones reflected in products from home furnishings to haute couture.

“The new colors coming on vehicles this year are fresh, rich and grounding,” said Susan Swek, group chief designer, Color & Material Design. “We don’t just choose a color and it winds up on a car. We study and understand how important color is to all kinds of our customers.”

Nissan achieves highest ever market share in Europe

(October 7, 2011) ROLLE, Switzerland — Today Nissan announced its highest ever market share in Europe, breaking a 16-year old record. Following strong performances across all major markets, Nissan achieved an overall September market share of 4.2% — a record in Europe and almost a full percentage point up on 2010. Nissan's previous highest market share was 4.1% achieved in August 1995.

Volkswagen recalls 168,000 cars with diesel engines

(October 7, 2011) Volkswagen is recalling 168,275 VW and Audi models with diesel engines because of a defect in the fuel injection system that could cause fuel leaks, possibly creating fire hazards.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says on its Web site that the recall affects some 2010 to 2012 Volkswagen Golf and 2009 to 2012 Jetta models. Also affected are some Audi A3 models from the 2010 through 2012 model years. The recall includes 161,144 Golf and Jetta models, and 7,131 Audi A3s.
