One in three would consider electric, UK poll finds

(February 17, 2011) One in three motorists in the UK would consider buying an electric car in the next 12 months according to a new survey by Motorpoint.

The online poll by the car supermarket giant found 41 percent of people quizzed were impressed enough by the new generation of electric cars coming onto the market such as the Mitsubishi iMiEV and Nissan LEAF to invest in one at some point in the near future.

Cadillac recalling 44,000 CTS sedans over wheel issue

(February 17, 2011) DETROIT — General Motors is recalling over 44,000 Cadillac CTS sedans for a flaw that could cause one of the rear wheels to become unstable.

The recall affects CTS vehicles from the 2009 and 2010 model years. GM said it would begin to notify owners of the vehicles covered by the recall. Dealers will inspect vehicles under recall and replace a potentially faulty rear toe link.

Cadillac all-wheel drive gaining traction

(February 16, 2011) DETROIT — Kenneth Carter, owner of Carter and Carter Realty Inc., lives on the north side of Colorado Springs, Colo., near Monument Hill, where the snow is frequent and terrain is steep.

An all-wheel-drive automobile is a necessity, said Carter, who often has to drive over unplowed roads to see properties or meet with clients. The Colorado Realtor recently bought a 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe AWD to go with the 2010 Cadillac SRX AWD he already owned.

Entry-level Ram hopes to entice new buyers with Hemi V-8

(February 16, 2011) Chrysler has added an entry-level Ram 1500 light-duty pickup to its lineup.

Code-named Adventurer, the unnamed Ram is aimed at first-time pickup buyers and seeks to entice younger buyers with the performance of a 390-horsepower Hemi V-8 engine but at a reasonable price that leaves buyers with money left over to spend on Mopar accessories to customize it.

Volvo truck sales up 95 percent in January

(February 16, 2011) Volvo truck deliveries in January were 95% higher globally than in the corresponding month last year.

Truck delivers in North America were up 152 percent at 1,376 from 546 in January 2010. Truck deliveries to Europe amounted to 2,805 trucks, up 106% compared to January 2010.

'Crazy Kevin' Explorer ad to hit the airwaves

Ford's overall European sales stable despite decline in Western Europe

(February 15, 2011) COLOGNE, Germany — Ford's sales in Europe were stable in January, with strong sales in Eastern Europe, Russia and Turkey offsetting a decline in Ford's Euro 19 traditional Western Europe markets. Ford's sales volume in its total 51 European markets was at 114,100 units, slightly up by 100 units on January 2010.
