Ford says it will add 7,000 workers during 2011-2012

(January 11, 2011) DETROIT — Ford Motor Company today announced it will add 7,000 new hourly and salaried jobs between this year and next in the United States.  
 
This year alone, Ford is adding nearly 4,000 hourly jobs at several of its U.S. plants, including 1,800 at Louisville Assembly Plant, which is preparing to launch the next-generation Ford Escape late in the year.

The Volt, Nissan Leaf and Hyundai Sonata were finalists for 2011 North American Car of the Year, while the Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Dodge Durango were Truck of the Year finalists.

New mid-sized Volkswagen unveiled in Detroit

Called simply the Passat — the same name as the smaller midsize sedan VW has struggled to sell in America — the new car will roll out of a $1billion assembly plant in Chattanooga, Tenn. Sales are to begin in September.
