Walgreens stores to install vehicle charging stations

(August 7, 2011) GAINESVILLE, Fla. (PRNewswire) — Electric vehicle charging stations will be placed at about 800 Walgreens location by the end of 2011, the pharmacy giant announced this month. These charging stations aren't just benefiting those who drive a Nissan Leaf or Chevrolet Volt; drivers will also be able to charge low speed electric vehicles.

Because one of the biggest challenges with electric vehicle was not being able to easily charge it, Walgreens' new high-speed direct and Level 2 chargers make it more plausible to own an electric vehicle.

These charging stations will be popping up in major cities, including Boston, Denver, New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and San Francisco, as well as select locations in Florida, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, and Washington.
