Volkswagen Group has 13.9 percent rise in global vehicle deliveries

(May 15, 2011) WOLFSBURG, Germany (PRNewswire) — The Volkswagen Group reported a further rise in global vehicle deliveries for the first four months of this year.

Europe's largest automaker delivered 2.66 million units from January through April, outperforming the world market. The company also reported a rise of 14.5 percent for April with 690,900 vehicles sold.

"As expected, deliveries by our group brands developed well in April, too," group board member for Sales, Christian Klingler, said in Wolfsburg on Friday. "As a result, we have made a good start to the second quarter. We aim to maintain this momentum over the coming months."

Overall, the Group brands delivered 1.23 million vehicles throughout Europe from January to April, an increase of 8.4 percent over the previous year.

Deliveries also developed well, growing 17.9 percent to 201,700 units in the North American region, of which 131,500 vehicles were delivered to the U.S. market.
