Tesla issues two recalls of the 2024 Cybertruck

(May 26, 2024) Tesla has issued two recalls of its 2024 Cybertruck because of defects in the front windshield wiper and the trunk body trim. The front windshield motor may stop functioning in 11,688 affected vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash, NHTSA said in a recall report June 25. Valeo Sistemas Electricos is the parts supplier, according to the report. Tesla will replace the windshield wiper motor.

Tesla will also recall 11,383 Cybertrucks because of a detachment risk in the trunk bed trim, NHTSA said in another report June 25. Axiom Plastics is the parts supplier, according to the report, and Tesla will replace or rework the applique.

This physical recall of vehicles, not rare for new models, is relatively unusual for Tesla, whose problems are usually resolved through over-the-air software updates. The Cybertruck is Tesla CEO Elon Musk's answer to critics who say the company needs to refresh its aging lineup as EV demand has flagged.
