Road-trippin' Nissan team celebrates with NISMO fans in Texas

(May 3, 2014) NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nothing rekindles the passion for motoring like a long road trip. That's why a crew of eight Nissan gearheads recently hit the road in six vehicles on a two-day, 920-mile journey to NISMO Fiesta in San Marcos, Texas.

This car show is one of the largest grassroots Nissan owner's festivals in the U.S., hosting more than 500 cars and 1,500 owners and enthusiasts from around the country. Held on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, the event featured activities such as a Hill Country drive, track day and car show.

"We are car enthusiasts ourselves — so much so that we wanted to drive 1,000 miles in the cars that we promote," said Max Moosman, Nissan Social Media.

There was something to look forward to at the end of each day, like a reception at Nissan dealerships – the first at Orr Nissan in Bossier City, La. Then it was Nissan of San Marcos, Texas; if you love Nissans, the place to be was San Marcos, home of NISMO Fiesta.

"We come every year," said event participant Chris Coronado of Houston. "This is one of the biggest shows for us down here in the south. We always make it a point to get down here."

Saturday featured a sold out track day at Harris Hill Raceway, where Nissan owners explored the capabilities of their cars on the track.

"For me it is all about taking it to the track. I went out and had a blast. That car will do more things than I can make it do. It is just all about going out and having fun with your car," said Coronado.

And on Sunday, it was time for the car show at the San Marcos Airfield where some fans got a first chance to see the new 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO.

"The event has grown tremendously year after year. We have actually doubled attendance, consistently, since the event's inception," said Miles Hall, event organizer, NISMO Fiesta.

"I love coming here to see everybody else's car and what they do to their cars and how different each looks even though we could all have the same model," said event participant Jennifer Taylor.

And what was not to love? The show was infectiously upbeat with people adoring their cars and sharing that same passion with others.

It has been said a vehicle can take you places you never dreamed you would go; it can attract new friendships and rekindle old ones. Who knew that four wheels could be medicine for the soul?
